South India is the area that comprises the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and the Union territories of Pondicherry and Lakshadweep, which occupy 19.31% of the area. South India lies in the Deccan peninsula, across the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean, and limited in the Bay of Bengal to the west, south and east respectively. The geography of the region is diverse and ranges from two mountain ranges - the Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats and a plateau heart.Godavari, Krishna, Tungabhadra and Kaveri rivers are important non-perennial sources of water.
