Burma, officially the Union of Myanmar is the largest country by geographical area in mainland Southeast Asia. The country is bordered by China in the northeast, Laos to the east, Thailand on the southeast coast of Bangladesh in the west, India to the northwest Bay of Bengal to the southwest with the Gulf of Martaban and Andaman Sea defining its southern periphery. A third of Burma's total perimeter is 1930 km (1199 miles), an uninterrupted coast.
